Our
talented Public Service team is deep
in the process of conception & casting
and hopes to begin shooting the TV spots
early in the New Year. Efforts in public
relations and marketing are well under
way and we look forward to helping HMoW
spread the word on the wonderful services
they provide. Programs continue to provide
fun festivities for all. We recently
partnered with YPR, a young public relations
group for our holiday party. About 60
of our closest friends and colleagues
joined us at a new, trendy wine bar.
Good food, wine and fun was had by all.
Education continues to provide great
opportunities for advertising education,
including a recent tour to Kinetic Productions
where young, eager ad folks were walked
through the process of making great
commercials. The Communications Committee
has moved forward revamping our “slightly
outdated” website, be on the look
out early 2005! Membership continues
to rise and we’re enjoying good,
industry-wide cheer. Plus, we’re
preparing a great party in honor of
Chad Gennow and the New Year!

Ad 2 Madison has had an
exciting first year. As the summer drew
to a close, we took a Friday afternoon
as a "skip out of work early day"
to tour a local vineyard and bused to
the Wisconsin Dells for a fierce mini-golf
tournament and night on the town. In
October we threw a Halloween Bash to
celebrate our one-year anniversary,
inviting all local communications organizations
to attend and network, dressing as their
favorite ad icon. We had a lot to celebrate
- great members who have really jumped
in to build the organization to over
50 members. In November we held a brown
bag breakfast on the topic of guerilla
marketing. In December we put together
two Ad 2 teams to compete in the Madison
Advertising Federation annual advertising
trivia night. We also signed up to ring
bells for the Salvation Army, our public
service client, and held our social
event afterwards to warm up. Numerous
hours have been spent behind the scenes
on our public service project which
is nearing completion.
We're looking forward to another busy
year in 2005!

2 Portland
Last
updated 12/04 Ad2
Portland went through several changes
this year - 3 presidents is a lot! However,
we're in a great place now with continued
momentum into 2005.
Early in the spring, our then president
Leigh-Ann and board member Erin contacted
a graphic design class at Oregon State
University and commissioned them to
build logos for our club. After a few
rounds of presentations, they came up
with the blue/green dotted design which
actually spells out Ad2 Portland in
Braille, from this we created letterhead
and business cards which we had printed
at no charge by another board member.
Our website also went live in the spring,
but with minimal navigation abilities.
We have since "fired" that
designer who never came to a meeting
and have two very energetic guys working
on it. Check it out at www.ad2portland.com
- potential members can now download
our membership form. Our site is being
hosted free by some random guy in Arkansas
that someone knew; in exchange we gave
him a sponsor link...
In June we had our first social hour
at a local brew pub (as is the popular
thing to do in Pacific NW) where we
had over 20 people.
In August Leigh-Ann left the club, Erin
took over as interim president and then
begged me to become president - which
I agreed to....and proceeded to build
a very strong resourceful board and
grow our email list.
In early October we had another social
hour at a different brew pub where more
than 30 people came. We were able to
talk to everyone individually and get
some great feedback as to what activities,
events, and ideas they had in mind.
From there, we planned a holiday mixer
in early November - almost 40 people
came and mingled, networked, and played
pool. We also had a representative from
the Public Service agency that we picked
come and speak...
Speaking of PS - we have chosen Big
Brothers/Big Sisters of Portland. Their
2005 campaign goal is to double the
number of children and adult matches
(they call them Bigs and Littles) from
500 to 1,000. Apparently this is a very
realistic goal, but they also need to
raise funds which they do from corporate
sponsors. One step in our campaign will
probably be to put together an investor
package. They stated a very harsh statistic
that I think got everyone engaged: It
costs BB/BS $1,000 a year to fund and
match a Big with a Little HOWEVER; it
costs the state $65,000 a year to service
the Littles who end up in jail, in legal
trouble and/or in social services. BB/BS's
ultimate goal is to keep the Littles
on the "right" path. Having
said that, we received a PS campaign
timeline and realize we are very much
behind the 8-ball so feel this may be
a two year project. A call for volunteers
and a committee is going out the week
of 1/3.
All in all, we've continued to grow
our club - are still short on members,
but have a big email list that we hope
to grow. Portland is a very tight knit
market and the economy is picking up
after a big slump, so once the word
gets out that Ad2 Portland is active,
we should fare well.
One final note, the Portland Advertising
Federation (which severed ties with
AAF a few years back) is interested
in working with Ad2 and synergizing
membership benefits and programming.
Not sure how that will play out, but
it wouldn't hurt to have the support.
Did I mention, we hold all of our club
meetings on Tuesdays and have dubbed
that day as Ad2uesday - which has become
a very recognizable catch-phrase! We
are putting together a entire programs
committee so that the responsibilities
don't fall entirely on our two board
co-chairs. We have some great ideas
and everyone's looking forward.

2 Reno
Last updated 12/04
Public
Service: Ad 2 Reno is hard
at work on our non profit campaign.
We have chosen a client, have nearly
finished researching our target and
are putting together a creative brief
to introduce to the “creative”
types in the neighborhood. We are very
excited about the campaign and believe
we will absolutely have it completed
in time to turn in our book in March.
We understand that Ad 2 Reno will need
a certain number of members, etc. to
be considered, so we are also hard at
work at gaining membership and getting
our bylaws approved by our local Ad
Fed so that we can move on to the next
stage in Ad 2 club-hood.
Board of Directors: Ad
2 Reno has a board of directors established
and we held our first board meeting
last night. We have several mixer ideas
planned and our socials and mixers chairperson
is currently establishing a committee
(it’s a lot of work!). She is
planning a mixer in January to introduce
the new logo to the community and as
a general mixer. Our first large fundraising
event we are hoping will be held in
February.
Education Programs: Ad
2 Reno’s education and programming
chairperson has also been hard at work
meeting with the A2N2 mirroring board
position and brainstorming ideas for
upcoming speakers. She predicts our
first speaker to be in February, 2005.
Official Club Logo: Ad
2 Reno officially has a logo! We held
our logo contest earlier this month
and Sadie Bonnette created the winning
entry. I’ll attach it for your
files. The judges felt the logo was
very young and modern, just like us!
Communications: Now that we finally
have a logo, our communications chairperson
will begin working with our sponsor,
CSG Direct (a direct mail house that
also is going to providing our web hosting
and direct e-mail services). Andrew,
the communications chairperson, will
be working with CSG Direct and Sadie
Bonnette to create our website. We feel
that once we have a website, our club
will feel more complete and there will
be a showcase for our events and a place
for people to retrieve information-
so, we are very excited about that!
Club Status: We are
an affiliate club to A2N2, so this means
that currently many of our members have
joined under A2N2, but feel like they
belong to Ad 2 Reno. This will be changing
to a more defined group of Ad 2 Reno
when the clubs turn over next July.
We had a joint holiday party with A2N2
earlier this week where Ad 2 Reno presented
Christmas tree balls as a token of appreciation
for their mentorship.

2 Roanoke
Last updated 12/04
Overall
club news: Because of the fact
that Roanoke is a small market, with
a thriving senior ad club, we’ve
found that our two clubs are competing
too much for memberships from young
advertising professionals. In fact,
half senior club’s board is Ad2-age
people (2 years ago Ad2 Roanoke nearly
folded, so they moved up).
Because of this, we decided to make
a change in the focus of our club. We
are now a club focused solely on students
and professionals 1 year or less out
of school. This allows us to clearly
differentiate our club from the senior
club, while still working together when
it makes sense. This also conveniently
focuses our club objectives, so that
instead of having to balance differing
interests between professionals and
students, we’re now focusing solely
on students.
Program: Ad2 Roanoke
Winter Welcome, 15 students from 4 area
universities attended, in addition to
8 current members. There was a great
interest in the new focus of the club.
Because we’ve spent the fall planning,
there have been no “education”
programs. And because we’re now
student focused, from now on they’ll
all essentially be Education programs.
Public Service Client: O.
Winston Link Museum, O. Winston Link
was a famous commercial photographer
who had a fascination with steam trains.
Though he was based in New York, he
did a major photography project recording
the end of the steam era on the Norfolk
& Southern Railway, which had a
major hub in the Roanoke area. N&S
was also essentially responsible for
building Roanoke into a larger city.
So, the history of the railway is the
history of the city itself. And this
museum celebrates this photographer’s
unique vision of the last days of the
steam era.
ADDYs: Ad2 Roanoke
is running (in conjunction with the
Advertising Federation of the Roanoke
Valley) the Student ADDY Competition
in the Western Virginia ADDY Awards.
Already the country’s largest
student ADDY competition, this year’s
crop of entries looks to be larger than
ever.

2 Seattle President’s Update
This past month has been a major movement
for Ad 2 Seattle. 4 members attended
the Mid-year retreat in and we had a
blast! Yes, we partied and bonded, but
we spent an entire day covering every
aspect of our club and passing around
ideas on how to further accomplish our
goals. I expect those who attended will
help lead our club and encourage all
our members to attend the next conference.
I want to welcome Steve Klasey, our
new Student ADDY Chair. We have a lot
of work to do with this and I know Steve
is ready for the job. I'd also like
to welcome our newest member, Jerry
Ostradicky. He seems quite ambitious
and will become a major asset to our
club. The Public Service Team has really
been working hard on the campaign and
our concepts have turned out to be incredible,
Great Job Crew! I hope everyone has
a great time during the holidays! Take
care.
Website Enhancements/Changes
We’ve updated a major chunk of
our site and added some major features
that will help our club communicate
with each other including, ad2seattle.org
emails, a photo gallery for all to upload
to, an online discussion board and a
chat room for our committee members
to have e-meetings. These features are
going to change the way we run our club
and it may be interesting for other
