How 2 Say Goodbye - Ad 2 Member Leaves Legacy with New Achievement Award
On the evening of July 7th, outgoing 2003-04 Ad 2 Board Members joined for one last time at Kobe Steakhouse. The evening proved memorable as a new annual achievement award was presented for the first time.
Ginger Reichl, former Ad 2 Tampa Bay Board Member, served the local advertising club for young professionals for 10 years holding multiple board positions. Over the years, Reichl spent countless hours aiding Ad 2 members and community charities in creating pro-bono advertising campaigns. Reichl also assisted in restoring Ad 2 Tampa Bay from just 3 members in ’98 to more than 65 members by 2000. Reichl has since graduated from Ad 2 and is now a member of the Tampa Bay Advertising Federation and runs her own full-service agency, Pinstripe Marketing.

Resume Portfolio Review
For students & young professionals! Basically it’s for anyone who wants their stuff reviewed by industry professionals. This year will be the biggest event it has even been – why? – well we have teamed up with the International Academy of Design to host the event. It is going to be huge. It will be in their new campus (awesome architecture by the way, a must see). We will have the ability to review portfolios online or on disk as computers will be set up, we will have snacks, roundtable discussions on what makes a good resume/portfolio and even handouts to take home with you! It is a NOT miss especially for aspiring young advertising professionals, there might even be some headhunters there!

Meet the Father of Advertising (according to Ad 2 Tampa Bay that is) Robert J. Craig
Bob Craig’s advertising career has spanned more than half his lifetime. For 49 years, Mr. Craig did it all, and did it all with style, charm, wit and kindness. He learned, he taught, he mentored, he launched innovative campaigns, developed a country-wide network and held the same account (McDonald’s) for 26 years, an account that traveled with him from agency to agency, from Michigan to Florida.
This is short notice, but please come get re-inspired, re-creative, and re-energiaed with this informal discussion. Mr. Craig is very eager to teach us youngins’ the ropes.

Hitch A Ride 2 Success with Ad 2
Networking is one of the most tangible attributes of Ad 2 Tampa Bay. When someone in the club falls on hard times, graduates from college, or just wants a new place to hang their hat during the day, the members of Ad 2 are the best headhunters you can hope for. But to make it happen, you have got to get involved. Here are the stories of a couple Ad 2 members who did just that.
Ryan: Graphic Design
After searching online, sending out resume after resume and yes, even pounding the pavement in search of work, Ryan turned to a friend in Ad 2 for advice. She gave more than advice, she game him the name of a person to contact at the local ABC affiliate, WFTS TV28. Calling the right person made all the difference, because that Friday he found himself in an interview with the Retail Marketing Manager and the Sales Manager. Even though Ryan impressed them with a portfolio of his previous work, he went into the weekend without a yes or no answer. Ryan is not one to leave this sort of thing to chance, so he took it upon himself to walk into the station at 8 am Monday morning, ready for work. His initiative paid off that day because they named him the stations newest intern in their graphic design department.
Derek: Graphic Design
Derek takes his little green book of ideas everywhere he goes, and as of lately he has been carrying it into downtown Tampa as the graphic designer of AnyDoc Software. Derek wanted to try the civilian life after spending over 7 years in the Army, but Uncle Sam does not simply let you give 2 weeks notice when you find something better. He took a big risk and had an extremely tough time finding work in this down economy. When the graphic designer at a fellow Ad 2 members work gave 2 weeks notice, you can bet that Derek was the first to hear about it. He got insider information about the people who were interviewing him, what they were looking for and who he was competing with. Good luck finding that sort of information at a headhunter or newspaper want ad.

Newsletter/ Public Service Meeting
We will be finalizing the Newsletter to go to print, along with Public
Service updates.

Hey all. Just wanted to alert you that Ad2 Tampa Bay has created a timely half-page ad for our public service client, the Suncoast Center for Community Mental Health. The ad will be in this Thursday's Weekly Planet and posted on the Ad 2 website. Our public service committee felt that such a newsworthy event that was directly related to our client and their mission was too good to pass up.

Thanks to all who have been attending the committee meetings and with all the help concepting. We are looking at a full campaign launch to be in January 2002. We have direct mail, outdoor, and print concepts working right now. I've spoken with a well-known Tampa director who sounded willing to help with doing TV as well. Keep up the good work guys, and to those who are not involved you might want to get involved now before you get left behind.

President's Message.
Recently I've heard, "In times of bad economy, it is the best time to market and promote your business". Well, for many of you unlucky enough to be presently unemployeed or graduating into this economy, your business is YOU. Because when it starts to pick up and the hiring freezes are over, they better be calling your name, at the top of the list.

There is no better time than now to join and get involved with Ad 2. Again, I must stress that we are NOT a job placement service, but a very good place to network, meet your peers and get your name out there. The more we see your face, the more we get to know you, the better chance you have of knowing who's hiring and what jobs will be opening up. We are the club to KNOW.

National AAF Conference (Miami, FL)
The National AAf Conference will be held June 6th thru 8th, in our backyare, Miami, FLA. There will be over 700 attendees representing AAF corporate members, nationwide federation members, college advertising students, advertising professors, corporate recruiters, exhibitors and press to one location in order to learn about, celebrate and strengthen the advertising industry.

There will be many prominant speakers, workshops and plenty of parting going on.

Watch the young stars of advertising at the NSAC: College World Series of Advertising audition their pitch for a global branding campaign for Bank of America.

Ad 2 Tampa Bay will be taking a few members with us to the National Conference. Scheduled to go are the following:

(2) Public Service Campaign presenters. These two members will present our UACCC campaign in the National Competition. And last but not least, the LUCKY member who's name is drawn at the Ad 2 Auction, on April 25th. (Details below).
