Starting a Chapter

“Let’s have some new cliches.” – Samuel Goldwyn

Starting an Ad 2 Chapter

The Ad 2 Division of the American Advertising Federation is comprised of a nationwide network of clubs whose members are employed and passionate about advertising, marketing or public relations and are 32 years of age or younger. Ad 2 creates advertisingʼs future leaders through educational, leadership development and networking programs.
There are types of Ad 2 chapters: Individual clubs and affiliated clubs.

In most cases, an AAF chapter will be in existence in your market. Therefore, itʼs important to garner support from the members and leadership of the existing “senior” club. Use their knowledge and expertise in the advertising community to determine the format of your new club. Ask for their help in reaching out to young professionals – potential Ad 2 members.

As soon as you have 15 members, contact AAF and Ad 2 National so that your club can officially become an Ad 2 chapter. Here are the necessary qualifications:

  • A minimum of 15 members.
  • The club must have officers, including (at a minimum) a President and a Secretary/Treasurer.
  • The club must have a set of bylaws approved by AAF and Ad 2 National.
  • The club must participate in at least one AAF project or program each year. For Ad 2 chapters, this often is the Ad 2 Public Service Competition.
  • The club must pay dues to the AAF, Ad 2 National and their district in a timely fashion each year for each member.
  • The club must submit a list of its membersʼ names and contact information to AAF.
